As most of you are aware, the field of medicine has come a long way. With the help of the internet, we have the world and all its information at our fingertips…constantly. Whether half of it is even right is not the issue. The issue is with all this information and freedom, we the people can become the doctors. We can order medical equipment online or in a store instead of trekking to the doctor’s office.

We can manage our own pain instead setting up an appointment and finding out the next available spot isn’t until three weeks down the road. It’s almost scary how much is “do-it-yourself” nowadays and it’s even more surprising that doctors are even still in business.  A friend of mine has been diabetic since she was five years old and she gets her diabetic medicine and supplies in the mail. Can you imagine the hassle if she had to go in to the see the doctor every time she needed that medicine or every time she had to get a refill on her supplies?

The selling of medical instruments and equipment whether in a store or online is truthfully a lot more convenient than waiting to see the doctor. It frees the doctor up, for one thing and it also puts the patient more in control of his/her health.

There is a whole plethora of items to acquire—everything from chiropractic equipment like hot and cold therapy packs, electrotherapy and acupuncture needles to more basic medical equipment like tables, anatomical charts and models and thermometers. The list goes on and on and with so much available, how is it that we even need doctors?

Well, doctors are never going to go away because even though the internet has been somewhat of a surrogate medical professional for the last decade or so, we still need flesh-and-blood people to discuss certain conditions, blood tests and other things that a computer simply can’t do. Even though you’re making things easy for yourself by obtaining at-home medical supplies, you still need the knowledge of a medical person to make sure that you’re using these supplies correctly so that injury or perhaps further injury does not occur.
